How To Refill A Vape Pen?

Vape pens are one of the most popular ways to enjoy everything from simple nicotine to cannabis oils.

And whether you’re a beginner using disposable pens, or a seasoned expert, learning how to refill a cartridge is an essential part of the vaping experience.

Steps To Refill Your Vape Pen

Below are simple steps for refilling an empty vape pen cartridge. Whether you’re refilling CBD oil, wax, or nicotine e-juice, the process is more or less the same.

  • Removing the vape pen’s mouthpiece

To refill your vape pen, you must first remove the mouthpiece of your pen. Most of these are straightforward to detach, involving a simple twist and pull. Once released, put the vape pen’s mouthpiece to one side.

If you find that the mouthpiece won’t come off, or are afraid of breaking your vape device, check its manual to ensure it’s a refillable model.

  • Clean your cartridge

People often ask questions, how to clean vape coils or vape? Especially if you’re filling in a brand-new flavor, giving your old cartridge a thorough clean is a good idea. This will improve the taste of vapor and ensure the right level of airflow is achieved during every puff.

Dip a clean cloth or a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol to remove excess e-liquid and build-up. Rinse with cold water afterward to ensure no harsh tastes are left.

  • Fill up your syringe or eyedropper

Now that the mouthpiece has been removed, you can better access the refillable vape cartridge. Take it out and put it to one side. Using your refill syringe or eyedropper, draw up your replacement e-liquid or distillate oil. Consider adding a layer of terpenes to enhance the aroma and potency of the vape juice.

  • Fill the cartridge up slowly

Please pay close attention to any markings on the side of your refillable cartridge, as you do not want to overfill it. Inject your e-liquid slowly, only doing a three-quarter turn to prevent air bubbles from forming.

If an air bubble does, in fact, form, you can gently tap on the hard surface of the most cartridge or shake it gently to dispel it.

  • Replace the mouthpiece

Once your cartridge has been fully refilled, it’s time to screw the mouthpiece back on. Be gentle with this step, as any unnecessary force on the mouthpiece’s threads can cause a break.

  • Allow it to set

Before using your vape pen, you should prime the cartridge. This allows the wick to saturate in the new e-liquid thoroughly and provides a much better vaping experience. Place the vape device upright for five to ten minutes, allowing the liquid to distribute evenly inside the vape pen.

When To Refill Your Vape Pen?

Unfortunately, most disposable vapes do not have a battery or e-juice indicator, so there’s no clear-cut way to see your vape juice level or the remaining vape battery percentage. Vapers, therefore, have to use specific telltale signals to work out if their disposable vape pen is almost over. Below are three ways you can tell your device is nearly empty.

Indicator Light Blinking

The easiest way to tell if your disposable vape is done is to look for an LED light. The battery is drained if the indicator light blinks 3-10 times while or after you take a puff. The color of the light and the number of times it blinks will vary from device to device. However, if you have recently charged your device and it no longer hits, then the e-juice in the device has run out, and it is time to refill your vape cart.

Diminished Flavor

An easy way to know if your disposable is close to running out of vape juice is to get your taste buds to work. When the flavor starts to wear off and vapor becomes tasteless and dull, it usually means that the wick of your disposable is getting dry. With rechargeable disposables, the vape juice will always be the part that will run out, as the battery can be recharged time and time again. Therefore, if you notice a significant drop in flavor from your disposable, it isn’t far from empty.

Burnt Taste

A burnt hit on a disposable pens means that the liquid has finished before the battery—if no juice is left in the tank, you may get a nasty hit and maybe notice a slight burning smell. That’s rare with one-use disposables, but if your disposable is rechargeable, stop using it when the vapor starts to diminish, and it feels dry.
